GÜNAYDIN İSTİNYEPARK: NEW DESIGN PROJECT REGARDING MEAT AS THE CROWN JEWEL

İstinyepark has been a local and international favourite spot among the many shopping centres in Istanbul since its opening in 2007. The rather more visitors to the venue have attracted many luxury brands, one of them a steakhouse brand Günaydın. After various international projects that we have successfully finished with Günaydın, we are proud to share our experience of an architectural makeover of Günaydın İstinyepark, a high-end restaurant in pursuit of becoming more of a place that offers a fine dining experience.

A New Concept for Luxury Restaurant Design

In brief, our client was interested in natural materials that would be incorporated into a memorable, comfortable, cosy and lively atmosphere. With this in mind, we approached the project with a rather inventive and contemporary idea of displaying the meat as the restaurant's crown jewel. To achieve this concept, we created a 'meat aquarium' integrated into the chef's table and a showcase at the entrance, along with the usual display of the meat in the dry-aged meat fridges. The customers can also witness the whole serving process from the kitchen to the table in the show kitchen area.

Design & Build Stages

At the design stages, all of the materials planned to be used were gathered and analyzed as samples before moving on to using them on surfaces. All of the design elements in the interior of the restaurant were created as mock-ups by YOO Architecture before the building process. This includes but is not limited to all pieces of furniture that aim to create a more flexible design, ceiling panels, decorative paintings, bar surfaces and coverings and many more details. Some of the details we are particularly proud of can be seen in the door handle referencing a bull's horn, more bull references in specially created murals and paintings. Also, as a concept, the meat display areas can be considered the highlight of the interior design. Working in a shopping mall had its challenges, such as limited working hours and spacial constrictions that created transportation difficulties, even though all of the design details were worked on thoroughly with mock-ups.
